5K ROAD RACE COURSE POLICIES
- The Department of Recreational Sports will begin accepting requests on March 15th for the fall semester of the upcoming academic year and on September 15th for the spring semester of the upcoming year. (For instance, on September 15, 2020, a group may request a date for Spring Semester 2021.) Groups interested in conducting a 5K Race should complete the request form.
- Road Races can be conducted 7:00am to 10:30am on Saturdays and Sundays (except home football game and major event weekends). Races must be completed by 10:30am.
The only 5K Road Race Course approved by Recreational Sports and the UGA Police Department is indicated on the course map. The route may not be altered unless approval has been given by the UGA Police. However, with approval from the UGA Police, the start/end of the race may occur elsewhere on the established campus course. A separate reservation may be needed for altered start/end area. – Right on East Campus Road
– Right on Hooper Street
– Left on Sanford Drive
– Left on Carlton Street

– Right on Pinecrest Drive
– Right on East Rutherford Street
– Right into Coliseum Parking Lot (between the deck, finishing in the middle of the lot)
UGA Police will provide a uniformed officer in a cruiser to lead runners through the course one time at no cost. Any additional police officers for event security or traffic control needs will be subject to UGA Police Department event security rates.
The Rental Group will be responsible for obtaining volunteers to monitor the intersections on the course. The Rental Group will have to provide their own marshals at each intersection. If cones are used, they cannot block the roadway permanently, but must be moved to allow traffic to flow through once the runners have passed.
5K Participants should utilize sidewalks where it is possible.
For use of Stegeman Coliseum Restroom Facilities, contact UGA Facilities Management Division Building Services. Charges for facility access will be the responsibility of the Rental Group.
Individuals, groups and their guests shall be personally responsible for their conduct and safety, and are expected to conform to university rules & regulations, and if applicable the Student Code of Conduct.
Color runs are not permitted on the UGA 5K Road Race Course.
The 5K Course is expected to be in clean condition immediately following the event. Rental Group is responsible for cleanup of course, including water/food stations, and any and all costs for custodial maintenance or repair, including but not limited to, damage to the race course.
The following are prohibited on the UGA 5K Road Race Course: alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs; intoxicated persons; any activity or equipment that may damage facility floors, walls and equipment; bicycles, rollerblade, roller skates, skateboards, hoverboards and Heelys; chalk (unless approved by area supervisor); glass containers; open flames/candles; balloons; stickers; personal chairs, coolers and tables; and pets with the exception of service animals. The University of Georgia is a tobacco free campus. Tobacco use is prohibited in all areas, including outdoor areas. Possession of weapons on the University of Georgia campus is governed by Georgia law O.C.G.A. 16-11-127.1.
Vendors, including concessions, are not allowed without prior approval from UGA’s Manager of Vending & Solicitation.
Fundraising events must have prior approval from the Center for Student Activities & Involvement.
Programs and Activities serving minors (children under 18) must conform to UGA’s Policy for Programs and Activities Serving Minors.

Rental Group agrees, in accordance with applicable law and University of Georgia policy, that there shall be no discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, religion, creed, sex (including sexual harassment and pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability or veteran’s status as to any aspect of the activities contemplated herein.
