We have two summer programs available to eligible parents/guardians of the UGA community:

Rec Sports Youth Camp
This is our traditional summer program that we have run for many years. The schedule includes arts and crafts, fun with fitness, climbing wall, field day, swimming, and other sports-related activities.
Rec Sports Adventure Camp
New for 2023, this program is designed for older campers and, as the name suggests, those who have an adventurous spirit. Week 1 schedules include land-based activities (hiking, land navigation, rock climbing, etc.). Week 2 includes water-based activities such as canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Detailed information on the schedules can be viewed in the menus below.
Registration:
Camp registration will begin on Wednesday, March 1 at 8:30 a.m. online at shop.recsports.uga.edu. Please see our updated registration steps in the next section. Also please review our Parent Handbooks for more information:

Normal Hours of Camp:
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Drop Off begins at 8:45 a.m. Pick Up begins at 2:45 p.m.)
Early Drop Off – 7:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. (see cost below)
Late Pick Up – 4:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (see cost below)
Pricing:
Youth Camp: Adventure Camp:
$130 per camper per week $140 per camper per week
$20 per camper per week – Early Drop Off $20 per camper per week – Early Drop Off
$20 per camper per week – Late Pick Up $20 per camper per week – Late Pick Up
Rec Sports Youth Camp Refund Policy:
a. Full Refund minus processing fee – If the camper provides more than one month notice a full refund minus a processing fee will be given.
b. Partial Refund Possible – If less than a months’ notice is given and another camper is available to take the vacated spot, a full refund minus processing fee will be given. If there is not another camper to take the vacated spot, a 50% refund will be given.
Step 1. Visit shop.recsports.uga.edu and select “Sign In” using your UGA MyID and password.
Step 2. Click the menu icon in the upper left corner and select “Programs.”
Step 3. Click “Summer 2023” under the semesters section
Step 4. Select the week, age group, and program (Youth Camp or Adventure Camp) for which you would like to register your camper.
Step 5. If you need to add a dependent, you can add your dependents under “Add Family.”
Step 6. Sign the waiver and answer the additional questions. Then, select “Add to cart.”
Step 7. Select “Optional Add-Ons” if applicable then select “Add & Continue”.
Step 8. You can either check out or “Continue Shopping” if you need to add additional weeks or campers.
All registration information will be collected in Fusion, so you will not need to complete any additional forms prior to camp beginning. If you have any questions, please email us at recsports@uga.edu.
Once per week we will take the campers on a field trip around Athens. Previous field trips have included an early showing of a new movie, bowling and Rush Athens to name a few.
Are any meals provided?
– Lunch will need to be provided each day by the parent/guardian.
– *Exception: We will provide lunch on Friday, June 2nd for the shortened first week.
– During the day we will provide snacks.
Does my camper need a change of clothes?
– We will notify parents/guardians of days we will be in the pool or field days. On these days, a change of clothes will need to be provided along with bathing suits and towels.
How can I pick my camper up early?
– You can call the main office at 706-542-5060 if a change is needed on the day of pick up.
– You can email Jason James at jamesja@uga.edu if any adjustments in your campers day will need to be made.

What is the difference between Adventure Camp Week 1 & 2?
– Week 1 of Adventure Camp will have a hiking and climbing focus. Campers will go on a climbing field trip to Currahee Mountain on the last day of camp.
– Week 2 of Adventure Camp will have a paddling focus. Campers will go on a paddling field trip to Ft. Yargo State Park on the last day of camp.
Does my camper need any prior outdoor experience to be successful?
– No! All your camper needs to be successful is an adventurous spirit and willingness to try new things.
Does my camper need a change of clothes?
– We will notify parents/guardians of days we will be in the pool or field days. On these days, a change of clothes will need to be provided along with swimsuits and towels. If your camper is participating in Week 2 of Adventure Camp, which is paddling focused, they will need to bring a change of clothes including extra socks and dry shoes along with a towel every day of camp.
